Just a short stroll from your chic home at Trout Lake Oasis lies John Hendry Park, affectionately known as Trout Lake. This 27‑hectare green space is one of Vancouver’s most beloved urban retreats, combining a freshwater lake, surrounding trails, and community amenities—all within reach of Commercial‑Broadway transit and The Drive. Locals and visitors alike find its flat walking loop, sandy beach, and wooded shoreline a peaceful contrast to the city bustle.(explorevancouver.org)
Trout Lake offers a small, sandy beach at its south end, complete with washrooms and a concession stand during warmer months. A swimming raft is often placed in the water, though lifeguard presence and water quality can vary—it's wise to check current updates before planning a swim.(explorevancouver.org) Around the lake, a flat, stroller‑friendly loop invites walkers, joggers, and families to soak up sun and scenery. On the north side, a designated off‑leash area welcomes dogs to splash and play, while the rest of the park remains on‑leash.(explorevancouver.org)
Beyond the lake, the Trout Lake Community Centre anchors park life with its LEED Gold–certified building offering an ice rink, gym, fitness centre, art studio, preschool, café, and multipurpose rooms for all ages.(vancouver.ca) In summer, the park hosts a vibrant farmers’ market on Saturdays—great for picking up local produce, snacks, or just enjoying the community buzz.(explorevancouver.org) Throughout the year, the park comes alive with cultural happenings like lantern festivals, Indigenous celebrations, and other seasonal gatherings.(placesthatmatter.ca)
• Go early on Saturdays if you’re aiming to browse the farmers’ market before the crowds swell.(explorevancouver.org)
• Bring a towel and water shoes if you plan to relax at the beach—water quality and lifeguard coverage shift seasonally.(explorevancouver.org)
• Fall brings gorgeous foliage, offering a beautiful backdrop for a quiet stroll or a moment of reflection.(explorevancouver.org)
• Driving? Paid parking began near the community centre in February 2026, though visitors using the centre’s facilities can register for three hours of free parking.(vancouver.ca)
After a morning spent relaxing in the garden or working at the dedicated workspace, you can wander over to the park in minutes. Maybe grab a coffee to go and loop the lake, let your dog stretch its legs in the off‑leash zone, or discover local flavours at the market. In cooler weather, the community centre invites you to drop in for a skate or community class. Trout Lake is the kind of place where city life and green space meet naturally—right at your doorstep.
Let the calm of the lake and the rhythm of the neighbourhood be part of your Vancouver story during your stay at Trout Lake Oasis.
